RemoteAccess Setup for HyperChat
(c) 1994 By Van Hoyle
Since HyperChat has only been tested on RemoteAccess it
was thought that it would be great to include in this package
the complete setup used on Heilheim Electronics for
HyperChat. These instructions and the files included are
complete and ready to use. Just follow the directions and you
will be up and running in short order.
IT IS ASSUMED THAT YOU ARE RUNNING RA 2.0 REGISTERED VERSION.
Some of the options contained in this package will NOT work
unless your copy of RA is Registered.
It is also assumed that your paths to the TXTFILES are
C:\RA\TXTFILES
And the path to your menu (.MNU) files are
C:\RA\MENUS
And the path to your questionnaire files are
C:\RA\QUESTION
If the above is not the correct paths then you will have to
edit everything to point to the correct paths to the
TXTFILES, MENUS and QUESTION directories.
1. Follow all the instructions given in HYPER200.DOC for the
basic setup FIRST. It is important that you do that to
make sure all the directories are set and all the
parimeters are set to point to the correct sub-
directories.
2. Copy/move all the .ANS/ASC/AVT files to your Txtfile
directory as defined in RACONFIG.
Example: C:\RA\TXTFILES
3. Copy/move the HYPERRA.MNU file to your MENU directory as
defined in RACONFIG
Example: C:\RA\MENUS
4. Copy/move the HYPERRA.Q-A file to the questionaire
directory as defined in RACONFIG.
Example: C:\RA\QUESTION
5. If you are going to allow your users to enter HyperChat
from the MAIN menu then make an entry in your MAIN.MNU to
allow a GOSUB to another menu. The menu that you want to
gosub to is HYPERRA.MNU. If you are doing it from a DOOR
menu then make the entry there.

You can edit any of the .ANS and the .ASC screens to
suit your taste and to reflect your particular BBS by using
THEDRAW or what ever ANSI editor you like. However, I would
suggest that you do NOT touch the HYPERHLP.ANS or the
HYPERHLP.ASC files. These files are rather lengthy and the
colors have been set for easy reading by the user. Any of the
.ANS/ASC menu screens can be edited to suit you.
The HYPERRA.Q-A file is nothing more than a way to allow your
users to automaticly download the HYPERHLP.A* files. In it
they will be asked to choose which they want to download and
then proceed from there based on their decision. It does NOT
create a .ASW file. Nor will it add anything to your FILE
DATA. Keeping track of the number of downloads for these
files are not necessary unless you are very masochistic and
want to maintain them for some unknown reason (grin)
The .MNU file also points to the directories that I have
setup in RACONFIG. The command line to execute HyperChat is
as it is listed in both the HYPER200.DOC and in my .MNU
Take a look at the .MNU and make sure that the optional data
lines are pointing in the right direction.
If you do not have to edit any of the paths and want to use
the .ANS/ASC screens the way they are then do nothing further
but allow users to use it as you want.
If you have any questions you can direct them to me via crash
mail at the fido address 1:379/502 If you have any questions
you want answered right away, then you can call my voice
number at 704-480-0610 any morning from 8am until 12 noon
EASTERN TIME.
